SCHOOL
The
Regular Meeting of the Corsica-Stickney Board of Education was held on Monday,
April 13, 2026 7:00 p.m. in Classroom A of Corsica-Stickney High School.
Members
Present: Jeremy Wright, President; Chad Clites, Roxann Gerlach, Darci
Neugebauer, Micheal Plooster, Shannon Tolsma, and Jennifer Van Gorp
Officers
Present: Scott Muckey, Superintendent; Brittney
Eide, High School Principal; Ferra Kemp, Elementary Principal and Angie
Feenstra, Business Manager.
A
time of silent prayer was held prior to the start of the meeting.
President
Wright called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. and a quorum was established.
The Pledge of Allegiance preceded the approval of the meeting agenda.
There
were no conflicts of interest to disclose.
Motion
by Plooster second by Gerlach to approve the agenda with additions as
presented. Motion carried.
Motion
by Clites second by Tolsma to approve the minutes from the March 9, 2026
Regular Board Meeting. Motion carried.
Motion
by Tolsma second by Gerlach to approve the March 2026 Financial Statement. Motion
carried.

Motion
by Tolsma second by Gerlach to approve the minutes of the March 11, 2026 and
April 8, 2026 Core Education Coop meetings. Motion carried.
Motion
by Plooster second by Neugebauer to approve the minutes of the March 24, 2026
Mid-Central Coop meeting. Motion carried.
Business
Manager Feenstra gave an update on the schools health insurance plan after
recently attending the Northern Plains Insurance Pool annual meeting.
Motion
by Tolsma second by Gerlach to approve the School Board Resolution authorizing
the Corsica-Stickney School District #21-3 membership in the South Dakota High
School Activities Association for the period beginning July 1, 2026 and ending
on June 30, 2027. UPON ROLL CALL VOTE:
Aye-Clites, Gerlach, Neugebauer, Plooster, Tolsma, Van Gorp, and Wright. Nay
None. Motion carried. A copy of this resolution is on file at the office of the
Corsica-Stickney School Superintendent.
Due
to not using all snow days, the school year will now end on May 15, 2026.
Motion by Gerlach second by Van Gorp to approve this calendar change. Motion
carried.
Principal
Kemp stated the vocal contest, spring concert and Lewis & Clark Awards
Night were all recently held. Upcoming events include the band contest, PK
Transition Night and state testing.
The
Corsica-Stickney School District will not be having a school board election
this year. Only two petitions were returned for the two open positions. Incumbent
Shannon Tolsma and new member Chad Wieczorek will assume positions for a 3-year
term. Oaths of office will be done at the July 2026 school board meeting.
Other
items discussed were joint school committee meeting, the upcoming gym roof
repairs in Stickney and a new bell system in Corsica.
At
7:49 p.m., motion by Gerlach second by Plooster to go into executive session to
discuss personnel matter pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2(1), legal matter pursuant to
SDCL 1-25-2(3) and contract negotiations pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2(4). Motion
carried. Declared out of executive session at 8:48 p.m. by President Wright
Motion
by Van Gorp second by Tolsma to approve the employee agreements for the 2026-2027
school year of the following classified staff: Luke Bamberg, Adam Bormann, Rod
Bormann, Cindy Bosma, Kristie Burke, Lindsey Denning, Mackenzie Denning, Brenda
Dykstra, Jonathan Hayashi, Ronald Heidinger, Josh Kemp, Cindy Koster, Connie
Matzner, Doris Metzger, Janet Moser, Phyllis Muilenburg, Rocky Nelson, Jodie
Nichols, Gregg Olawsky, Phyllis
Pennings, Dennis Plooster, Elaine Plooster, Micheal Plooster, Larry Schoenrock,
Sherry Schumacher, Jean Van Genderen, Jessica Van Genderen, Brian Vilhauer, Kyle
Wieczorek, Jerry Wisdom, Craig Wixon, Jason Wolbrink, Aaron Wright and Gavin
Zomer. Motion carried with Plooster abstaining.
Motion
by Clites second by Gerlach to approve the signed contracts of Wade Gall and
Bailey Spaans for the 2026-2027 school year. Motion carried.
There
being no further business, at 8:49 p.m., motion by Tolsma second by Van Gorp to
adjourn. Motion carried. The next regular meeting date will be Monday, May 11,
2026 at 7:00 p.m. in classroom A of the Corsica-Stickney High School.
