REGULAR
MEETING – OCTOBER 13, 2021 – 7:30 P.M. – STUDY HALL ROOM – CORSICA-STICKNEY
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The
Regular Meeting of the Corsica-Stickney Board of Education was held on Wednesday,
October 13, 2021 – 7:30 p.m. in the Study Hall Room of Corsica-Stickney
Elementary School.
Members
Present: Jeremy Wright, President; Chad Clites, Roxann Gerlach, Darci
Neugebauer, Micheal Plooster, Shannon Tolsma, & Jennifer Van Gorp
Officers
Present: Scott Muckey, Superintendent; Brittney
Eide, Secondary Principal; Ferra Kemp, Elementary Principal and Angie Feenstra,
Business Manager.
Pastor
April Peterson gave a prayer prior to the start of the meeting.
President
Wright called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. and a quorum was established.
The Pledge of Allegiance preceded the approval of the meeting agenda.
There
were no new conflicts of interest.
Motion
by Plooster second by Van Gorp to approve the agenda as presented. All members
present voted aye. Motion carried.
There
were no public comments.
Alternative
Student Admission/Activity Policy 2nd Reading
Motion
by Tolsma second by Gerlach to adopt Policy RRR & SSS in regards to
Alternative Student Admission/Activities. All members present voted aye. Motion
carried.
Motion
by Clites second by Tolsma to approve the minutes from the September 13, 2021
Regular Board Meeting. All members present voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion
by Gerlach second by Van Gorp to approve the September 2021 Financial
Statement. All members present voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion
by Plooster second by Neugebauer to approve the September 2021 Custodial
Account Report with a beginning balance of $24,154.74, disbursements of $9,093.46,
receipts of $9,488.02, for an ending balance of $24,549.30. All members present
voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion
by Tolsma second by Clites to approve the October 2021 listing of bills. All
members present voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion
by Plooster second by Gerlach to approve the minutes of the October 7, 2021
CORE Coop meeting. All members present voted aye. Motion carried.
A
copy of the FY 2021 audit was presented to the board for review. Motion by Tolsma
second by Plooster to approve the audit report. All members present voted aye. Motion
carried.
No
changes will be made to the School Opening Guide-Return to Learn Plan. COVID
rates in the area will be monitored and changes will be made as necessary. The
plan can be found on the school webpage.
No
updates were made to the ARP-ESSER Plan. The plan can be found on the school
webpage.
Principal
Kemp said they have been giving quite a few school tours for class reunions.
The elementary school will be having a Veteran’s Day Program and parent-teacher
conferences had a good turnout.
Principal
Eide felt the junior high/high school also had a good attendance for
parent-teacher conferences. Dual credit registration for the spring semester
will be happening shortly and college reps have started their school visits.
Volleyball, football, and cross-country seasons are winding down. The band recently
went to a marching festival and all-state chorus has been preparing for State.
The high school campus will be holding Veteran’s Day activities as well.
At
8:17 p.m., motion by Tolsma second by Gerlach to go into executive session to
discuss staff matters pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2(1) and student matters pursuant
to SDCL 1-25-2(2). All members present voted aye. Motion carried. Declared
out of executive session at 9:10 p.m. by President Wright.
There
being no further business, at 9:11 p.m., motion by Tolsma second by Van Gorp to
adjourn. All members present voted aye. Motion
carried. The next regular meeting date will be Monday, November 8, 2021 at 7:30
p.m. in Classroom “A” of the Corsica-Stickney High School.
