REGULAR
MEETING – NOVEMBER 8, 2021 – 7:30 P.M. – CLASSROOM “A” – CORSICA-STICKNEY HIGH
SCHOOL
The
Regular Meeting of the Corsica-Stickney Board of Education was held on Monday,
November 8, 2021 – 7:30 p.m. in Classroom “A” of Corsica-Stickney High School.
Members
Present: Jeremy Wright, President; Chad Clites, Roxann Gerlach, Darci
Neugebauer, Micheal Plooster, Shannon Tolsma, & Jennifer Van Gorp
Officers
Present: Scott Muckey, Superintendent; Brittney
Eide, Secondary Principal; Ferra Kemp, Elementary Principal and Angie Feenstra,
Business Manager.
Pastor
Scott Nichols gave a prayer prior to the meeting.
President
Wright called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. and a quorum was established.
The Pledge of Allegiance preceded the approval of the meeting agenda.
No
one was present for open forum/public discussion.
Motion
by Tolsma second by Gerlach to approve the agenda with additions as presented. All
members present voted aye. Motion carried.
There
were no new conflicts of interest.
Motion
by Plooster second by Van Gorp to approve the minutes from the October 13, 2021
Regular Board Meeting. All members present voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion
by Tolsma second by Neugebauer to approve the October 2021 Financial Statement.
All members present voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion
by Van Gorp second by Gerlach to approve the October 2021 Trust and Agency
Report with a beginning balance of $24,549.30, disbursements of $11,530.28,
receipts of $17,054.49, for an ending balance of $30,073.51. All members
present voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion
by Tolsma second by Plooster to approve the November 2021 listing of bills. All
members present voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion
by Tolsma second by Gerlach to approve the minutes of the November 4, 2021 CORE
Educational Coop meetings. All members present voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion
by Plooster second by Neugebauer to approve the minutes of the November 8, 2021
Mid-Central Educational Coop meeting. All members present voted aye. Motion
carried.
Motion
by Tolsma second by Gerlach to leave the School Opening Guide-Return to Learn
Plan as is for the time being. COVID rates in the area will be monitored and
changes will be made as necessary. The plan can be found on the school webpage.
All members present voted aye. Motion carried.
No
updates were made to the ARP-ESSER Plan. The plan can be found on the school
webpage.
Motion
by Van Gorp second by Clites to keep the driver’s education rate the same as
last year. Mr. Muckey is the teacher and he will receive $120/student for their
driving time. All members present voted aye. Motion carried.
Principal
Eide informed the board of the upcoming Veterans’ Day celebration that will be
held on Wednesday, November 10. The quiz bowl team has been doing well so far
this season. Eide wanted guidance on the winter sports meeting and it was
decided to not have one this year.
Principal
Kemp will be having a Veterans’ Day program at the elementary school on
Thursday, November 11. There were 4 students from the sixth grade that were
selected to participate in the elementary honor choir in Rapid City during the
All-State Chorus event.
Superintendent
Muckey gave the board the results of a preschool survey that had recently went
around area schools. He also gave bus & computer updates. He will be
attending a couple job fairs in the next couple months. Muckey also requested
to restart the Christmas staff gathering again this year after taking a break
from it last year due to COVID.
The
building committee updated the full board on the building project. The
architects and engineers have been putting together final details on the
Corsica project and the Stickney project is not far behind. Bids for the
Corsica project are currently out and are due back by November 23. Tentatively
the Stickney project will be out for bid shortly with bids back in December
with the definite date to be determined. One of the items that won’t be
included in the bids is asbestos removal, therefore Superintendent Muckey has
contacted a firm that specializes in that service and they will be coming out
to do an inspection of the Stickney facility to determine what needs to be
removed.
There
being no further business, at 9:05 p.m., motion by Tolsma second by Gerlach to
adjourn. All members present voted aye. Motion carried. The next regular
meeting date will be Monday, December 13, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. in the Study Hall
Room of the Corsica-Stickney Elementary School.
