REGULAR
MEETING – JANUARY 11, 2021 – 7:30 P.M. – CLASSROOM “A” – CORSICA-STICKNEY HIGH
SCHOOL
The
Regular Meeting of the Corsica-Stickney Board of Education was held on Monday,
January 11, 2021– 7:30 p.m. in Classroom “A” of Corsica-Stickney High School.
Members
Present: Jeremy Wright, President; Chad Clites, Jason Lagge, Darci Neugebauer,
Micheal Plooster, Shannon Tolsma, & Jennifer Van Gorp
Officers
Present: Scott Muckey, Superintendent; Brittney
Eide, Secondary Principal; Ferra Kemp, Elementary Principal and Angie Feenstra,
Business Manager.
Pastor
John Gorter said a short prayer prior to the meeting.
President
Wright called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. and a quorum was established.
The Pledge of Allegiance preceded the approval of the meeting agenda.
No
presentations were made.
Motion
by Lagge seconded by Van Gorp to approve the agenda with additions as presented.
Motion carried.
There
were no conflicts of interest.
Motion
by Tolsma seconded by Plooster to approve the minutes from the December 14,
2020 Regular Board Meeting. Motion carried.
Motion
by Tolsma seconded by Van Gorp to approve the December 2020 Financial
Statement. Motion carried.
Motion
by Lagge seconded by Plooster to approve the December 2020 Trust and Agency
Report with a beginning balance of $27,384.29, disbursements of $2,293.47,
receipts of $5,115.92, for an ending balance of $30,206.74. Motion carried.
Motion
by Lagge seconded by Clites to approve the January 2021 listing of bills. Motion carried.
Motion
by Tolsma seconded by Neugebauer to approve the minutes of the January 6, 2021
CORE Educational Coop meeting. Motion
carried.
Motion
by Van Gorp seconded by Plooster to approve the 2021-2022 school calendar.
Motion carried.
Principal
Eide congratulated our Quiz Bowl team that got 1st place at the Q107
Quiz Bowl Contest. Also in her update was the letters to Leisure Living has
been a hit with the students and residents. Preliminary testing has started for
smarter balance testing for later this spring.
Principal
Kemp indicated that preliminary testing has started at the grade school as
well.
Parent-Teacher
Conferences will be virtual again like the fall.
The
past two years the school has had an instructional course as a source of
professional development. At this time, it was determined to not have the coach
again this upcoming year and look into other professional development ideas.
Other
items discussed were SDHSAA ADM numbers and classifications, updates from the
Community-School Improvement meeting, as well as building project updates. It
was determined to have a special public input meeting for the building project
on Wednesday, January 20 at 7pm.
At
9:36 p.m., motion by Plooster seconded by Van Gorp to go into executive session
to discuss personnel matters pursuant to SDCL
1-25-2(1). Motion carried. Declared out of
executive session at 10:16 p.m. by President Wright.
Motion
by Tolsma seconded by Neugebauer to issue contracts to Scott Muckey, Brittney
Eide, Ferra Kemp & Angela Feenstra for the 2021-2022 school year. Motion
carried.
There
being no further business, at 10:18 p.m., motion by Lagge seconded by Tolsma to
adjourn. Motion carried. There will be a special meeting on January
20, 2021 at 6pm with a public input portion at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the
building project. The next regular meeting date will be Monday, February 8,
2021 at 7:30 p.m. in Classroom “A” of the Corsica-Stickney High School.
