REGULAR
MEETING – FEBRUARY 10, 2020 – 7:00 P.M. – CLASSROOM “A” – CORSICA-STICKNEY HIGH
SCHOOL
The
Regular Meeting of the Corsica-Stickney Board of Education was held on Monday,
February 10, 2020 – 7:00 p.m. in Classroom “A” of Corsica-Stickney High
School.
Members
Present: Jeremy Wright, President; Chad Clites, Shannon Tolsma, Jason Lagge, Darci
Neugebauer, Jennifer Van Gorp, & Micheal Plooster.
Officers
Present: Scott Muckey, Superintendent; Andrew
Fergen, Secondary Principal; Ferra Kemp, Elementary Principal and Angie
Feenstra, Business Manager.
Prior
to the meeting, the robotics class led by Mr. Brian Jorgensen gave a
demonstration to the school board and community members on what they have been
working on in their class
Pastor
Jack Gray gave a prayer prior to the start of the meeting.
President
Wright called the meeting to order at 7:28 p.m. and a quorum was established.
The Pledge of Allegiance preceded the approval of the meeting agenda.
No
presentations were made.
Motion
by Van Gorp seconded by Plooster to approve the agenda with additions as
presented. Motion carried.
There
were no conflicts of interest to disclose.
Motion
by Lagge seconded by Tolsma to approve the minutes from the January 15, 2020
Regular Board Meeting. Motion carried.
Motion
by Tolsma seconded by Clites to approve the January 2020 Financial
Statement. Motion carried.
Motion
by Lagge seconded by Van Gorp to approve the January 2020 Trust and Agency
Report with a beginning balance of $29,241.83, disbursements of $7,170.86,
receipts of $10,470.51, for an ending balance of $32,541.48. Motion carried.
Motion
by Tolsma seconded by Van Gorp to approve the February 2020 listing of
bills. Motion carried.
A
letter was received from Andrew Fergen, resigning from his 7-12 Principal/AD
position at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Motion by Clites seconded by
Plooster to accept the resignation. Motion carried.
Motion
by Van Gorp seconded by Lagge to approve the minutes of the February 6, 2020
Core Education Coop meeting. Motion
carried.
Motion
by Lagge seconded by Tolsma to recognize the Corsica-Stickney Education
Association as a negotiating committee. Motion carried.
Motion
by Van Gorp seconded by Neugebauer to approve the signed contracts of Scott
Muckey, Ferra Kemp, & Angela Feenstra as well as Miranda Crisman, 5-12 Band
Instructor, for the 2020-2021 year.
Motion carried.
Principal
Kemp reported that the elementary students that competed at the Regional
Spelling Bee did very well.
Principal
Fergen gave an update on CTE/Perkins meetings that he has been attending
recently.
Other
items discussed were 2020 Legislative updates, painting additional volleyball
lines on the court this summer, football uniforms have been ordered as well as
a high jump pit. There will be a make-up school day on Monday, February 17.
Executive Session –
SDCL 1-25-2 (1) Personnel Matter
At
8:22 p.m., motion by Tolsma seconded by Lagge to go into executive session to
discuss personnel matter pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2(1). Motion carried. Declared out of executive session at 9:48 p.m.

Motion
by Tolsma seconded by Plooster to issue contracts for the 2020-2021 school year
to the following staff: Heather Andera, Jacqueline Boyle, Jason Broughton, Lorisa
Broughton, Peggy Casavan, Kristie Clark, Wade Gall, Kristine Gillette, Vickie
Guenthner, Kylee Hongslo, Stacey Hosman, Mark Joachim, Danielle Johnson, Brian
Jorgensen, Michelle Koch, Sheryl Muckey, Ashley Olsen, Nicole Reichert,
Christina Strid, Michael Tuschen, and Allyson Waldner. Motion carried.
There
being no further business, at 9:54 p.m., motion by Clites seconded by Lagge to
adjourn. Motion carried. The next regular meeting date will be Monday,
March 9, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in the study hall room of the Corsica-Stickney Elementary
School.
