UNAPPROVED MINUTES OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS

SPECIAL MEETING – MARCH 22, 2018 – 6:30 P.M. – CLASSROOM 2 – CORSICA-STICKNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN CORSICA

A Special Meeting of the Corsica-Stickney Board of Education was held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 – 6:30 p.m. in Classroom 2 of Corsica-Stickney Elementary School in Corsica.

Members Present: Jeremy Wright, President; Chad Clites, Shannon Tolsma, Jason Lagge, Nicole Bamberg, Jennifer Van Gorp & Don Odens.

Officers and Others Present: Scott Muckey, Superintendent; Andrew Fergen, Secondary Principal; Angie Feenstra, Business Manager; Mike McKnight, Hearing Officer; Maxine Risty, Court Reporter; and Scott Swier, Corsica-Stickney School Attorney.

President Wright called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. and a quorum was established.

Approve Agenda

Motion by Bamberg seconded by Lagge to approve the agenda with additions as presented. Motion carried.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

There were no conflicts of interest to disclose.

Executive Session – SDCL 1-25-2 (2) Student Matter

At 6:32 p.m., motion by Tolsma seconded by Lagge to go into executive session to discuss a student matter pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2(2). Motion carried. Declared out of executive session at 7:25 p.m. by President Wright.

Student Action

Motion by Clites seconded by Van Gorp for the long-term suspension of student #18010001 for a term lasting until the end of the 2017-2018 school year. Motion carried.

Exemption Certificate

Motion by Van Gorp seconded by Tolsma to approve exemption certificate M. Motion carried.

Adjourn

There being no further business, at 7:29 p.m., motion by Bamberg seconded by Tolsma to adjourn. Motion carried. The next regular meeting date will be Monday April 9, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in Classroom “A” of the Corsica-Stickney High School.
