UNAPPROVED MINUTES OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS

REGULAR MEETING – FEBRUARY 13, 2017 – 7:30 P.M. – CLASSROOM “A” – CORSICA-STICKNEY HIGH SCHOOL

 

The Regular Meeting of the Corsica-Stickney Board of Education was held on Monday, February 13, 2017 – 7:30 p.m. in Classroom “A” of Corsica-Stickney High School. 

 

Members Present: Jeremy Wright, President; Bob Bamberg, Shannon Tolsma, Jason Lagge, Nicole Bamberg (arrived at 8:40 p.m.) & Don Odens.

Members Absent: Chad Clites

Officers Present:  Scott Muckey, Superintendent; Andrew Fergen, Secondary Principal; Ferra Kemp, Elementary Principal and Angie Feenstra, Business Manager.

 

President Wright called the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m. and a quorum was established. The Pledge of Allegiance preceded the approval of the meeting agenda. 

 

Approve Agenda

Motion by B. Bamberg seconded by Tolsma to approve the agenda with additions as presented.  Motion carried.

 

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

There were no conflicts of interest to disclose.

 

Approval of Minutes

Motion by Lagge seconded by Odens to approve the minutes from the January 11, 2017 Regular Board Meeting. Motion carried.

 

Approval of Financial Statement

Motion by Lagge seconded by B. Bamberg to approve the January 2017 Financial Statement.  Motion carried.

 

January 2017 Trust and Agency Report

Motion by B. Bamberg seconded by Tolsma to approve the January 2017 Trust and Agency Report with a beginning balance of $23,219.70, disbursements of $5,954.48, receipts of $7,555.74, for an ending balance of $24,820.96.  Motion carried. 

 

Approval of Bills

Motion by Tolsma seconded by Odens to approve the February 2017 listing of bills.  Motion carried.

 

Approval of Mid-Central Coop Minutes

Motion by Tolsma seconded by Lagge to approve the minutes of the January 12, 2017 Mid-Central Coop meeting.  Motion carried.

 

Approve Core Education Cooperative Minutes

Motion by Lagge seconded by B. Bamberg to approve the minutes of the January 5, 2017 and February 9, 2017 Core Education Coop meetings.  Motion carried.

 

CSEA Negotiation Request

Motion by Tolsma seconded by B. Bamberg to recognize the Corsica-Stickney Education Association as a negotiating committee. Motion carried.

 

2017-2018 School Calendar

Motion by Tolsma seconded by B. Bamberg to approve the 2017-2018 school calendar. Motion carried.

 

Bus Report

A bus and vehicle report was presented to the board.  It summarized the vehicles, miles, and repair costs.  

 

Principal Reports

Principals Fergen and Kemp gave their reports.  Kemp gave an update on the aides in the elementary and how she felt we were sitting in comparison to our needs.  Fergen reported on the one-act plays, FCCLA, parent-teacher conferences, and district basketball. 

 

Others

Other items discussed were the Great Plains Conference, adding the senior parents as an additionally insured for after prom activities, housing, legislative updates, and the ceiling in the Corsica elementary gym.

 

Executive Session – SDCL 1-25-2 (1) Personnel Matter

At 9:08 p.m., motion by Tolsma seconded by N. Bamberg to go into executive session to discuss personnel matter pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2(1).   Motion carried.  Declared out of executive session at 10:15 p.m. by President Wright.

 

Contract Issuance

Motion by N. Bamberg seconded by Tolsma to issue contracts for the 2017-2018 school year to the following staff: Jacqueline Boyle, Jason Broughton, Lorisa Broughton, Kristie Clark, Michael Davis, Tanya Davis, Susan DeBoer, Robert Dunwoody, Angela Feenstra, Andrew Fergen, Wade Gall, Kristine Gillette, Vickie Guenthner, Heather Hanson, Stacey Hosman, Mark Joachim, Carrie Kafka, Ferra Kemp, Michelle Koch, Scott Muckey, Sheryl Muckey, Stephanie Slaba, Christina Strid, Michael Tuschen, Karla VandenBerge, Allyson Waldner, & Craig Wixon. Motion carried.

 

Adjourn

There being no further business, at 10:16 p.m., motion by B. Bamberg seconded by Tolsma to adjourn.  Motion carried.  The next regular meeting date will be Monday, March 13, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in the study hall room of the Corsica-Stickney Elementary School.
