UNAPPROVED MINUTES OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS
REGULAR MEETING – NOVEMBER 10, 2014 – 7:35 PM – CLASSROOM “A”
The Regular Meeting of the Corsica Board of Education was held on Monday, November 10, 2014 – 7:35 p.m. in Classroom A of the high school.
Board Members Present: Jeremy Wright, President; Bob Bamberg, Vanessa Miiller, Kent DeBoer, Jason Lagge, and Nicole Bamberg (arrived at 8:36 p.m.) Jared Gerlach.
Officers Present: Vern DeGeest, Superintendent; Scott Muckey, Secondary Principal and Merna Bye, Business Manager.
Guest Present: Kris VanZee, Globe Reporter
Pastor Daniel Ebbens gave the opening prayer.
President Wright called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. and a quorum was present and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Motion by Lagge seconded by Bob Bamberg to approve the agenda with the additions as presented. Carried.
Open Forum/Public
Discussion
There was no open forum or public discussion at the November 10, 2014 meeting.
Unfinished Business
There was no unfinished business at the November 10, 2014 meeting.
Motion by Miiller seconded by DeBoer to approve the October 13, 2014 Regular Meeting Minutes. Carried.
Motion by Miiller seconded by Lagge to approve the October 2014 Financial Statement. Carried.
Motion by Lagge seconded by DeBoer to approve the October 2014 Trust and Agency Report with a beginning balance of $12,631.40, disbursements of $2,909.22, receipts of $3,869.23 for an ending balance of $13,591.41. Motion carried.
Motion by Lagge seconded by DeBoer to approve the November 2014 listing of bills as presented. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by DeBoer to approve the November 2014 Mid-Central Co-op minutes. Carried.

Joint Schools
Committee
Information from the October 20, 2014 Joint School Committee was reviewed. Motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Lagge to approve the hiring of Dakota Education Consulting for filling the position of the superintendent and business manager of the newly consolidated Corsica-Stickney School District. The cost for these services will be $6,500.00 for the search and interview fee with additional expenses for mileage, printed materials to be billed following the hiring process. This price will be shared with the Stickney School District. Motion carried.
The next Joint School Committee meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 at the Corsica High School Library.
Corsica-Stickney
Consolidated School Information
Since the schools of Corsica and Stickney will become a consolidated school district beginning July 1, 2015 an application for Dissolution of Cooperative Sponsorship of Activities needed to be approved to dissolve the previously approved cooperative programs with the Corsica School District #21-2 and the Stickney School District #1-2. This formal process is necessary to allow for the newly created Corsica-Stickney School #21-3. Motion by Miiller seconded by Gerlach to approve the dissolution. Carried
Great Plains
Conference Request
Miller moved seconded by Bob Bamberg to submit a formal letter of application to the Great Plains Football Conference beginning with the 2015-2016 school year. Carried.
Shared Contract
Approval - Wixon
Motion by Miiller seconded by DeBoer to approve the shared contract of Stickney School employee Craig Wixon at (50%) time to be paid by the Corsica School District for the 2014-2015 school year. Carried.
Nicole Bamberg arrived at the meeting.
Transportation
Much discussion was held on transportation and the purchasing of a new or used bus. This item was tabled until the regular December 2014 meeting.
Canvass the School
Board Election Poll book
A special meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Corsica High School Library. Purpose of this meeting will be to canvass the poll book from the Corsica-Stickney School Board Election.
Surplus Football
Equipment
Motion by Miiller seconded by Nicole Bamberg to approve surplus football equipment at no value and to have it destroyed. Carried. Those items are – 22 pair of shoulder pads, 11 helmets that no longer can be used due to expiration of safety certification and 1 seven-person blocking sled.
Football Bleachers
Stickney School has agreed to allow their school owned football bleachers which include four black bleachers (each bleacher section is approximately 20 feet in length) and one aluminum section( approximately 15 feet in length) to be moved to the Corsica for use at the football/track/softball area. Motion by Miiller seconded by Nicole Bamberg to approve the use of the bleachers from the Stickney School. Carried.

Executive Session –
SDCL 1-25-1 – Student Concern
Motion by Bob Bamberg at 9:23 p.m., to go into executive session to discuss a student concern seconded by Miiller and carried. Declared out of executive session at 9:35 p.m. by the board president.
Adjourn
There being no further business, at 9:36 p.m. motion by Bob Bamberg to adjourn. Seconded by Lagge and carried. The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in Classroom A of the high school.
